About the Foundation

The Foundation of La Jolla High School was founded in 1983 and is a non-profit, tax exempt, public benefit corporation whose primary purpose is to raise funds for our school.

The need for such funds has increased significantly in recent years, as La Jolla High School has been experiencing significant public funding cuts. Our school is a nationally recognized "High Achieving School" but this status does not insulate it from deep funding cuts that threaten faculty and staff positions, the availability of textbooks, critical supplies, course offerings, sports programs, badly needed maintenance and improvements to La Jolla High School's physical plant, and other critical resources necessary to continue to deliver a superior secondary education.

La Jolla High School is the top public high school in San Diego and more than competitive with the premium private high schools. It is ranked as one of the top 100 public high schools in the United States, is a California Distinguished School, and a California AVID School of Distinction. Its graduates are consistently admitted to the most competitive colleges and universities in the country. However, without basic resources, those successes and accomplishments are at severe risk.

The Foundation simply cannot provide for the needs of La Jolla High School without your support. Whether you are a parent or grandparent of a student, an alumnus, or a member of the community who supports academic excellence, we need your help to maintain the high academic standards of our school.
