IN OBSERVANCE OF VETERAN’S DAY

        
STAFF AND STUDENTS:

        

1.      DEADLINE TODAY:  Today is the last day for entering this year's Reflection's Art Contest. All entries are due in the main office by the end of school today.. The theme for this year is, Beauty is...”, and you can enter in any of six different categories: visual arts, dance choreography, music composition, film and video production, literature, or photography.  Thank you.

 

2.      Parent Visitation Day is Tuesday, November 10.  Please plan accordingly. (Administration)

 

3.      ALL CSF MEMBERS:  We are returning to last year’s schedule of club meetings.   Today, November 9 we will start with the second half and it will continue from there - -  1St and 3rd Mondays will be the first half of the alphabet, 2nd  and 4th Mondays will be the second half.  Thanks.  If you have any questions, see Mrs. Shamrock in room 508.

4.      Soccer Club:  BYOT (BRING your own team) games continue at lunch on Tuesday and Thursday.  BRING IT!

5.      ANNUAL BLOOD DRIVE:  Sign up at lunch to donate blood in room 903!  (Mr. Teachworth)

 6.     All Winter Athletes.  Those with completed forms and a 2.0 GPA and Citizenship may pick up their clearance card at lunch in the balcony of the big gym on Tuesday, November 10 and Thursday, November 12.  If you are finishing a fall sport and going on to a winter sport, just come to the balcony of the big gym.  (Coach Allen and Mr. Fairley)

7.      Blue Slips will not be written for students to go to their cars at lunch.  This means, if you have left your athletic uniform, lunch, book or assignment in your vehicle, it will stay there until after school.  Therefore, don’t leave anything you may need that day in your car when you arrive in the morning. (Mr. Shelburne)

8       MATH CLUB - LJHS math club started the year with a perfect score!  Let's maintain the momentum!  CAML #2 will be held during period 1 on Tuesday, November 17.  Please check in with your first period teacher and then come to the cafeteria with pencils, erasers, scratch paper, and a calculator.  If you have not paid the $5 club fee, please bring $5, as well.  Ms. Thomas

9.            Blue Slips may be picked up during passing periods and at lunch.  They may NOT be picked up before school.  (Administration)

10.    Argentina here we come!  Are you interested in going to Argentina this summer?  Mr. Tellers is providing students with an opportunity to experience the history, art and culture of Argentina.  If you and your friends are interested in participating in this year’s trip, see Mr. Tellers in room 307 to pick up informational brochures.

11.    Everyone interested in playing Boys' Basketball in 2009-2010 for the La Jolla Vikings should attend a mandatory meeting on Tuesday, November 10 at the beginning of LUNCH in the SMALL GYM!
We will discuss the organizational aspects of tryouts and the first week of practice.  (Coach Kamal Assaf)

12.    Is school too stressful?  Do you wish you could just release all that stress and have some fun during school?  Well, and then come to Jewish Club in room 306 at lunch today!  Just like every week, food will be waiting for you.  (Mr. Atwell)

 

 

SENIORS:

 

1.      SENIORS:  You should all be planning to turn in your Senior Exhibition topic on Tuesday, November 17, or before.  If you haven't heard about your responsibility, speak to your English teacher.  If you fail to turn in your topic, by November 17, it will be selected for you.  Remember, this is a graduation requirement.  If you plan to graduate, you must make the presentation.    (Mrs. Greco)

 

 

COUNSELING NEWS:

 

Mock ACT and SAT:  Grade 10 & 11:  FREE PRACTICE SAT/ACT at La Jolla High School on Saturday, November 14, 2009 9:00am-1:00pm (Please arrive by 8:45am, 500 building). The sign up process has changed!!!!  Go to www.revolutionprep.com to sign up.  You must select either an SAT or an ACT.  Any questions see Mrs. Marron in the counseling office.
