School Site Council Meeting Minutes
December 4, 2006
Members present:
Teachers: Kerry Dill, Melanie Menders, Ken Martin and Matt Rosenberg.
Classified Staff: Kathleen Doll.
Students: Rachel Pedowitz, Nicole Sparks and Delaney Maher.
Parents: Linda Dowley, Jamie Ginsberg and Michael Briggs.
Ex-officio member present: Dana Shelburne, Principal.
Guests present: Claire Summer, Zane Freiberg, Liz Lindenfeld and Caroline Kelner.
The meeting was called to order by Ms. Ginsberg at 2:30 p.m.
- Minutes – Copies of the Minutes from the last meeting of the LJHS School Site Council on November 6, 2006, were made available. On motion made, seconded and passed, the minutes were approved as submitted. Approved minutes will be posted to the school website.
- Old Business – Additional Site Funds – Mr. Rosenberg explained that he investigated the test score scanning equipment, including software, and learned that purchase of $850 worth of forms would give the school free use of the machine that offered good statistical analysis for the teachers. He stated that an explanatory video and demonstration materials were being shipped to the school.
- Old Business – Additional Site Funds – Mr. Shelburne provided updated information regarding the Discretionary Block Grant that was approved at the previous meeting. . He explained that the purchase of computers would result in 35 new computers in the mathematics lab and 8 in the library, meeting the needs of both locations. He indicated that a reading teacher was being sought, and that San Diego State University and Point Loma Nazarene University had both been contacted to secure the part-time help needed. Further, plans were being finalized for a three-hour-per-day clerk in the Library Media Center. Upon request, Mr. Shelburne agreed to discuss the Algebra scores of LJHS students at the next Site Governance Committee meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:10 p.m.
The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 8, 2007, at 2:30 p.m. in Room 304.
