Discussion followed regarding band programs at other high schools, including Point Loma which has a marching band. It was also discussed getting students who participate in SD Youth Symphony but donŐt take band at LJHS, participating in performances.

Roundtable –

Bee Mittermiller asked about the discipline process for students, noting that some students and parents had complained that equal infractions had not received equal consequences. The hierarchy was discussed – who levied the punishment? That person should be asked for clarification. If there is no satisfaction, then the party should proceed in accordance with the complaint resolution process.

Betsy Klene asked that historic testing data be put on the agenda for the next meeting. It was noted that Mr. Olson is doing a project regarding student performance and data would be valuable for Governance.

Members were reminded that the next meeting is Monday, December 3.

With no further business, the meeting was adjourned. The subcommittee on respectful behavior will meet immediately following this meeting and will report back to the broader group at the December 3 meeting.
