Articulation Assemblies

LJHS students in Grades 9-11 will attend assemblies on February 25.  At that time, the counselors will distribute LJHS Handbooks and Planning Sheets.  Students will be contacted by their counselors during English class between March 13 and April 13 to pick up the completed Planning Sheets and to address any questions or concerns. 
  Muirlands 8th grade students will be given LJHS Handbooks and Planning Sheets in their History classes on March 3.  They will be visited by counselors during their History classes March 10, 11, or 12 to pick up the Planning Sheets and address any questions.

Advanced Placement Exams -- May 5-16

Twenty-three Advanced Placement exams will be given at LJHS.  Students in AP classes should have received a letter and an application form by mail.  The fee for each test is $88.  The registration deadline is Friday, March 14.  Make checks payable to La Jolla High School and submit with the application to the Financial Office during regular office hours. A $20 late fee will be charged for applications turned in after the due date.  No applications will be accepted after March 20. 

A $20 cancellation fee will be charged for those students who cancel an exam.  More applications are available in the G & C Center.  Students who are enrolled in an AP course must take the AP exam in May.  Any questions should be referred to the student's instructor.

   As part of the California state-mandated High School Reform our counselors are presenting career education and educational planning units to the ninth grade English classes during the second semester.
   A warm and appreciative
thank you to all parentswho are volunteering their time for the Senior Exhibitions.  Candace Person is coordinating this effort.  Your help not only aids our seniors, it also expresses your recognition of the quality and caliber of our La Jolla High students.  We have a lot to be proud of -- thank you!
   The
school bulletin is a very important resource for all students and parents.  It offers information for seniors on college visits, scholarships, campus activities, and other opportunities.  It is posted in the office window and on the Guidance and Counseling Center bulletin board in addition to being read twice a week during second period.  You may read it from home by visiting ljhs.sandi.net and linking to "Parent Information," then "Bulletin."

Attention, College-Bound Juniors

College-bound juniors should take SAT I in April and/or May and SAT II in June.  The University of California requires that these tests be completed by December of the senior year.  SAT I /SAT II application forms are available in the G & C Center.  If you have any questions, please contact your counselor.
