SAT II Subject Tests

SAT II's, or Subject Tests, are given by the College Board.  These tests measure a student's knowledge in a particular subject and his/her ability to apply that knowledge.  Some colleges require one or more of these tests for admission or placement
purposes.  Some require various combinations of tests, while others permit students to choose.  Check the
requirements of the colleges you are considering
before deciding which tests to take.
The University of California system requires three Subject Tests: Writing, Math Level I or II, and
either foreign language, history, or science.  All testing (SAT I and SAT II) must be completed by the
December test date of the senior year.  Juniors are
encouraged to take the SAT I and/or SAT II Subject Test(s) in the spring, leaving the fall of their senior year to retake for a better score if desired.
SAT I and SAT II applications and information booklets are available from the Guidance and Counseling Center.  Students must either obtain
a copy from the Center or register online at
www.collegeboard.com.
