For Your Information...

Registration

It's huge.  It's organized.  It's coming...
You got the packet, right?  (If not, call the school.)  Now... open it!  Don't wait until the night before your student's registration day.  Things will go much smoother for your student if you have filled out and signed everything.  Remember to send an original utility or phone bill dated within the last sixty days (no cell phone bills are acceptable).  Also, only a Master Lock purchased from LJHS is acceptable.
Be sure to read the Registration Survival Tips on the first page of the registration packet and follow the Mandatory Requirements on the second page.  This should help you.
Many hours have been devoted to streamlining the process.   If you plan ahead, your student might even enjoy Registration.

Important!
Registration Dates are on page 15.

Dress Code is Taken Seriously

La Jolla High School has always had a dress code, the details of which are in the student information packet that parents sign at the beginning of the school year.  Students also have dress code information in their planners.  The dress code is rigorously enforced with these consequences:

    * First and second offenses: The student is sent to the nurse's office and must change into P.E. clothes
    * Third offense: There is a one day suspension for defiance

Unacceptable attire includes, but is not limited to, bare midriffs (even an inch showing), tops with spaghetti straps, men's white underwear style tank top, exposed undergarments, and any immodest clothing.  Sweatpants and regular tank tops are acceptable.
Please take a look at your students as they go out the door for school and make sure the outfits they are wearing are appropriate for school.  If they tell you that nobody cares, don't believe it!
Suspensions stay on the student's permanent record, not as "dress code violation" but as "defiance."

Parents of new students are invited to the New Families canopy on registration days. See pages 15 and 16.

Caution
Mamselles is an organization that is a cause for concern each year.  It is not associated with the school, and has been known for degrading and dangerous activities for high school girls.  Please talk with Vice Principal Mrs. Campbell if your daughter has been invited to join the Mamselles.
