Lockers

As many of you know, we had a shortage of lockers at the beginning of the school year.  If we caused anyone an inconvenience I apologize.  Now that the dust has settled, our records show that we have a handful of empty lockers.  If you have a student who still needs a locker, please have him or her come see me.

I especially want to thank Mrs. Sandy Dinnsen and Mrs. Candy Satterlee for organizing the locker registration procedure.  We are one of the few schools in San Diego that has lockers.  Without parent volunteers we would never be able to provide the countless hours it takes to keep records for over 1,600 students.

Here's a huge tip for parents and students:  Lockers are not waterproof.  The rainy season is coming.  Students use lockers at their own risk.  During times of heavy rain textbooks and/or library books can get wet.  Students are encouraged to take books home in the evening and especially during the breaks.

Blue Slips  "What is a Blue Slip and how do I get one?"

If you need to take your student out of school during the school day (e.g., for a doctor's appointment), your student is going to need a Blue Slip.  You should request a Blue Slip in advance by telephone.  Call LJHS at 454-3081, ask for Attendance, and tell us you when you need to pick up your student. Tell your child to go to the Attendance Office before school, between classes, or during lunch to get the Blue Slip. He or she must have it in hand to leave campus--leaving without this slip is considered a truancy.  Your child can meet you at a pre-arranged location, so that you do not have to go on the campus at all.
We regret that we cannot very easily send for your student on a moment's notice, because we do not always have monitors to run up to the classroom.  Also, we are not supposed to call teachers during class, and they do not always answer their phones during class anyway.  This information has been read to your student in every school bulletin since September 2, but there seems to be much confusion about this.  Thank you for your help.
