LJHS students in grades 9-11 will attend assemblies on February 24. At that time, the counselors will distribute LJHS Handbooks and Planning Sheets. Students will be contacted by their counselors during English class between March 8 and March 29 to pick up the completed Planning Sheets and to address any questions or concerns.
Muirlands 8th grade
students will be given LJHS
Handbooks and Planning Sheets in their History classes on February 26. They will be visited by counselors during their History classes March 2, 4, or 5 to pick up
the Planning Sheets and address any questions.

Twenty-three Advanced Placement exams will be given at LJHS. Students in AP classes should have received a letter and an application form by mail. The fee for each test is $90. The registration deadline is Friday, March 12. Make checks payable to La Jolla High School and submit with the application to the Financial Office during regular office hours.
A $20 late fee will be charged for applications turned in after the due date. No applications will be accepted after March 19. A $20 cancellation fee will be charged for those students who cancel an exam. More applications are available in the G & C Center. Students who are enrolled in an AP course must take the AP exam in May. Any questions should be referred to the
student's instructor.

The California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) is mandatory for all students in tenth grade. The test will be given Tuesday, March 16, and Wednesday, March 17.

As part of the California state-mandated High School Reform our counselors are presenting career
education and educational planning units to the ninth grade English classes during the second semester.

Exhibitions. Caroline Nierenberg is coordinating this effort. Your help not only aids our seniors, it also expresses your recognition of the quality and caliber of our La Jolla High students. We have a lot to be proud of -- thank you!
The school bulletin is a very important resource for all students and parents. It offers information for
seniors on college visits, scholarships, campus activities, and other opportunities. It is posted in the office window and on the Guidance and Counseling Center bulletin board in addition to being read twice a week during second period. The second session of P.R.I.D.E. will begin on February 17 and run through March 30. This is an opportunity for students to retake a core course, in which they received a D or F grade, for graduation and/or college entrance
requirements.
The program is six weeks long, Monday through Thursday from
2:30-4:50 p.m. Applications are available in the G&C Center. Sign up early!
